I wanted to visualize how Christa approached the challenges that came with growing her team and keeping it from turning into a hot bureaucratic mess that’s so common with large teams. What gave her the courage to stray from conventional management practices? What beliefs guided her when faced with the uncertainty and doubt that comes from not following convention?

My sketchnoting process usually involves picking a story from the interview and visualizing it with words and visual metaphors. This one was different. One story didn’t contain all the elements. These were the common themes in Christa’s stories that came together to answer my questions. These were the guiding principles that helped her to get through uncertain times.
