SupConf is drawing closer, and we are excited to start organizing day-of details. We need your help! Volunteers will have the chance to contribute to and participate in the first SupConf: meet attendees and speakers, provide support for the conference, attend sessions, and help ensure that the debut SupConf is a success. We are looking for people are enthusiastic, organized, and who love to help. In other words, we are looking for people who are Support Driven.

As a volunteer at SupConf, you will:

  • Be an essential part of the event.
  • Learn the inner organizational workings of a support conference.
  • Spend quality time with SupConf organizers.
  • Have the opportunity to meet speakers from the support community.
  • Be on the ground, interacting with SupConf attendees.
  • Have an opportunity to attend the conference half of the time and volunteer the other half of the time.*

*We would prefer to have one A/V volunteer throughout the conference. The nature of the job would have them present for all of the talks, though, so the A/V volunteer would attend all of the sessions.

I’m in! What does SupConf need help with?

SupConf needs help on May 23 and 24, the days of the event, with these types of details:

Audio / Video — Requires knowing your way around audio & video equipment. Bonus points if you’d like to bring along your own equipment to help record sessions.

Registration – Check in attendees at the door. Perfect for someone who likes meeting and greeting people and checking names off of lists.

Photography — If you love documenting events with your camera, we’d love your help photographing SupConf: presentations, attendee interactions, fun times at dinner.

Taking Notes — Are you good at taking notes? We need your skills to capture and organize the talks into notes. Your efforts will be read and appreciated by everyone!

Setup / Breakdown — Each day will require some level setup and breakdown (including May 22, the day before the event begins): tables, chairs, room arrangements. Many hands make light work in this area, so if you’re good with shuffling furniture, we’d love your help here.

Food & Beverage — Everything from setting up & serving food and beverages to making grocery store runs as needed. You’ll help keep everyone well fed and happy.

Runners — There are always things that need to be gotten :-) Runners are happy to handle unexpected errands on site.

Wherever there’s a need — Helping out with random unspecified things here and there, etc.

Will SupConf pay for my expenses?

We are unable to cover expenses for volunteers, which means that if you want to get involved, you will need to cover the costs of traveling to and staying in San Francisco.

What Should I Expect?

Once you are accepted as a volunteer at SupConf, you’ll be added to the volunteer team and depending on your skills and preferences, you’ll be assigned various tasks to carry out before the event and throughout the event.

Volunteers will need to be on site at 8AM May 23 for a volunteer meeting. The whole team will meet to go through the running of the conference. Volunteers will visit the venue to familiarize yourself with the locale, then help with setting up the event.

On the days of the event, you’ll be carrying out your assigned tasks, working as part of a team.

Awesome! Let’s do this! How do I apply?

Ready to sign up? Fill out the form below and we’ll be in touch. Thank you in advance for making SupConf San Francisco a success!
