Customer Service Week 2019 is upon us and we’ve been busy showing love for our front line team! This is a great time of year to acknowledge and thank the people in your company who care for your most valuable asset– your customers!
Here are the four ways we celebrated the hard work our Customer Care team puts in every day. We hope one of these ideas can make their way into how you think about honoring your customer-facing employees!
Pull in the Whole Crew
Celebrate your whole company’s commitment to delivering A+ customer experiences. While lots of the direct communication with customers happens within your service teams, the heart of all strong companies is a strong focus on the customer. Finding an activity or treat the entire company can enjoy gives them a chance to celebrate the work across the company to keep the customer at the heart of your mission.
We kicked off Customer Service Week with custom Lose It! branded cupcakes from Sweet Cupcakes in Boston, MA. Being a group that always makes room for desserts, there was lots of excitement across teams when the surprise cupcakes appeared in the kitchen.
Get Out of the Queue
Get the team together for a meal or shared experience. It’s refreshing to break away from the phones for an hour or two and actually hang out with your colleagues once in a while! If you can’t pull the entire team away at the same time, break into smaller groups and make sure everyone has a chance to get involved.
Get Leadership Involved
The leadership group in your company understands the importance of a strong customer-facing team. If you’re like most companies, these leaders probably don’t recognize those day to day contributions as much as they intend to (especially if your customer-facing teams are putting out fires before leadership is even aware there’s a problem).
For Lose It!, this was a great opportunity for our CEO, VPs and Directors to show appreciation for the blood, sweat and tears our Customer Care Specialists pour into supporting Lose It! members. We drafted personalized thank you cards for each team member and partnered with Punkpost to make them special. The Customer Care team received beautiful, one-of-a-kind cards via snail mail from our leadership team.
Make It Personal
We know that no two customer interactions are the same, and the best Customer Care Specialists make each customer engagement personal. This week is a great chance to celebrate your team with the same individuality they provide to each of your customers.
If you know Bill loves chocolate, an exotic chocolate gift basket might be nice! If Alice coaches her kids’ soccer team on the weekend, a gift certificate to a family-friendly restaurant near the soccer fields might be up to her alley! Find a way to make this week special for each individual.
We rounded out the week with gift cards to Sephora for our makeup-loving teammate, Amazon for the busy dad on our team, and Fandango for the guy who keeps us laughing by referencing movie scenes and quotes. For our self-proclaimed cat lady, we set her up with a meowbox subscription!
The way you decide to celebrate your customer care team can be big or small– but we saw first hand this week how a few special activities made the team feel appreciated and supported. Does your company celebrate Customer Service Week? What ways are you recognizing your amazing customer care teams?
