Support Driven Leadership Summit Portland 2022- Call for Proposals

Do you find that you spend social gatherings regaling your friends with your theories of leadership? When you made your list of New Year’s resolutions, was one of them to speak at a conference about leadership? When you talk in your sleep, is it mostly to say, “I’m the captain now?” Whether the answer to any of these questions is yes or even a hesitant and/or confused “...maybe?” we’d like you to know that we’re accepting proposals for the long-delayed and long-awaited Support Driven Leadership Summit, taking place on June 6 and 7, 2022, in Portland, Oregon!

Call for Proposals (CFP): Case Studies and Talks

We’re looking for two different types of presentations.

Case Studies:

  • 45 minutes long

  • Tell us about a challenging situation you dealt with

  • Make some part of your presentation a group activity for the attendees (we’ll help!)

  • Leave attendees with action items they can use at their company

Talks:

  • 20 minutes maximum

  • No interactive element required

Themes

Each presentation should align with one of these themes:

Management
Potential topics: conflict resolution, people management, hiring, feedback

Strategy
Potential topics: culture, change management, working with teams, working with executives

Operations
Potential topics: metrics, data, forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, scaling

Career
Potential topics: mentorship, growth, professional development

That all sounds great but what’s in it for you?

In addition to the euphoric rush of speaking in front of an engaged, talented crowd and the glow you get from making a lasting impact on your fellow humans, you’ll also receive:

  • A complimentary conference ticket for you

  • A complimentary conference ticket to share so you’ll have a friendly face in the crowd

  • Feedback and support from a talk editor as you prepare your presentation

We still haven’t managed to get any company to acquire us for the several billion dollars we know that we’re worth, so we’re unable to pay for travel or lodging for speakers. But we hope that the opportunity to give back to and network with the Support Driven community will be valuable enough for you to be able to attend. We haven’t checked this, but we’re pretty sure approximately 93% of all Support Driven community members live in or on the outskirts of Portland, and every one of them wants to help you achieve your speaking goal.

For any applicants we don’t select to speak at the Summit, we’ll give you a discount code for $200 off the ticket price to show our appreciation for the time and effort you put in.

What you commit to when you apply

If we accept your application, we’ll need you to:

  • Commit to the milestone deadlines (see below)

  • Participate in regular check ins with your Talk Editor

  • Adhere to our Code of Conduct

  • Agree that we may use your name and photo to promote the conference

  • Agree that we may record your talk and slides (audio, video, photography) for use in social media, marketing, sales, and distribution

Here are those milestone deadlines

  • February 18 - Speaker applications close at 11:59pm PST.

  • February 25 - We will notify you as to whether your proposal has been accepted.

  • April 18 - Begin working with your talk editor

  • May 16 - Deadline for final slides and talk recording

  • June 6 - Walk-through in the morning at the venue

  • June 6 -7 - Support Driven Leadership Summit 2022 Portland

And here’s how to apply

  • Write a brief pitch - less than a page/250 words - that tells us what your case study or talk is about and what your audience will learn from it. If you need some pitch advice, our own Lisa Hunt wrote some advice for you.

  • Submit the required materials via the CFP form below by February 18, 2022

  • For any questions, reach out in Slack #event-sd-leadership-summit or send us an email at community@supportdriven.com

We’re so excited to get back together in person, in the summer(!), in Portland(!!), with so many brilliant people.

We can’t wait to start reading your proposals!
